What Is The Deal, Y'All???!!!
I know it has been since FOREVER since my last entry, but so much has been going on with me, and I just haven't had the opportunity to write my webnotes.
Let's start with the fact that this past August 9, I GOT MARRIED. I married the mother of my son, the former Tira Collier in my home church. The wedding was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and the weather was picture perfect. Tira and I are very happy and we look forward to many years of wedded bliss.
In other news, I'm still doing my gigs with Pieces Of A Dream and James Carter. I also get a few spot dates here and there with Ronnie Laws. Here at home in Detroit, I am pleased to announce that the keyboard quartet form of Gerard Gibbs & ReORGAN'YZ will begin weekly Tuesday appearances at Bert's Marketplace in the Eastern Market District of downtown Detroit from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. beginning THIS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2008.The organ trio form of Gerard Gibbs & ReORGAN'YZ has been going strong at Baker's Keyboard Lounge on Wednesdays as part of the new 'B-3 Wednesdays' I started back in March of this year. Check out my schedule for further details.
Beginning the early part of next week, I will begin a monthlong tour of Europe with The James Carter Quintet. You may have noticed that I haven't filled in that portion of my calendar. The reason for that is because I haven't received my itinerary as of yet. It should be coming in before the end of the week. Once I get it, I will update my calendar accordingly.
I also wanted to address the issue of my next CD project. I am really anxious to get started with it, however the truth of the matter is that I have been struggling to raise the monies necessary to complete the project. In these tough economic times, it has been very difficult to be able to record and maintain my responsibilities as a father and now a new husband and head of a household. I am remaining hopeful and prayerful that I will be able to get enough gigs happening so that I can finance the recording of my third CD. So keep us in your prayers, OK???
